Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz couldn’t hold back his emotions after losing to Novak Djokovic in the Cincinnati Open final.
Alcaraz and Djokovic slugged it out once again in the Queen City, just over a month after their SW19 epic. Boy wonder Alcaraz came out on top in London, triumphing 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to claim his second Grand Slam crown.

But he couldn’t repeat the feat in Cincinnati as experience conquered youth, with Djokovic running out a 7-5, 6-7, 6-7 winner ahead of the US Open. Alcaraz was the unlucky loser in an instant classic, eventually going down 7-4 in the final set tiebreak before bawling his eyes out into his towel as he got changed at the end.
It prompted plenty of comments from tennis fans, one of whom said: “Alcaraz crying after this one. First time we’ve seen him like this. What a battle.”

Others went: “Lowkey it pains me Alcaraz end up crying! The future is yours.” And: “Ughh. Those Alcaraz tears. Have a feeling that he’s learnt so much about himself and Tennis after this match than he has throughout his playing career. Onward. Forward. Believe!”
