Carlos Alcaraz’s second success in a Grand Slam tournament, after the one obtained at the US Open 2022, came on Sunday at Wimbledon, at the end of the thrilling and incredible final against Novak Djokovic. A match that further sublimated, if needed, the crystalline talent of Carlos Alcaraz.
The 20-year-old native of Murcia, in the space of a very long match, full of very high technical ideas and characterized by various tears that did not always give the impression that he could remain so balanced. Alcaraz managed, among other things ,to inflict a tough 6-1 to the Serbian champion in the heart of the match, or rather during the third set.
Only in four other cases, in fact, had Novak Djokovic given up a set so clearly during one of the 35 finals played in his career between the four most important tournaments in world tennis: that 6-1 is a sign of superiority and dominance, albeit momentary, which the opponent was able to impose in the presence of the 36-year-old from Belgrade.
Carlos Alcaraz rips Novak Djokovic to get another super milestone!
Before now it had only happened on July 3, 2011, precisely in Wimbledon and still in the third, thanks to Rafael Nadal but with a different epilogue because in that case it was Nole who finally won, as happened, again in London, in the 2019 final in which he was opposed to Roger Federer, with the Swiss who, after dominating with a peremptory 6-1 in the second set, was defeated in the twenty-fifth game of the fifth in an epic and interminable confrontation.
The statistics, in essence, consolidate the qualities that Carlos Alcaraz has already shown even on the London grass, putting on the ropes one who has played and won several important matches.
